Coaching
My definition of coaching
What is coaching? Well, for me and my clients coaching is a powerful tool that helps us with life’s challenges. The process of coaching teaches us about ourselves, how we interact with others and how we can make positive change in our lives.
What you learn from your coaching sessions may surprise you. You may even find that what you are striving for isn’t what you want at all. And if you have been battling with your challenges coaching is a good step forward to gain clarity in your life.
My view of why professional coaching is important
Why is professional coaching important? For most clients I see it’s the need to have an objective, supportive, confidential non-judgemental relationship with a qualified coach – someone who has you and your mental wellbeing at heart.
Personal coaching deals with issues and feelings of work/life balance, vulnerability, being stuck in your life, building personal resilience at work and at home. And wanting change. Business coaching and executive coaching deals with issues in the workplace, team work, people management and building resilience in the workplace. Leadership coaching looks at you as a leader and the leader you want to be. Coaching looks at your characteristics, skills, traits, abilities, the qualities of a good leader and leadership development process. Mindfulness plays a key role in leadership skills and leadership development for executives and business leaders. Please see the Mindfulness page for more details on this topic.
What I need from my coaching clients
To realise the benefits of coaching I always recommend a minimum of six, hour-long sessions. I will ask you to be open and honest. This is the best way to get the most from your sessions.
Discovery session
One complimentary 1-2-1 discovery session is open to anyone who wants to get an idea of what it’s like to be coached. During our 30-minute session we’ll explore the three biggest challenges you’re currently facing and gain clarity on three goals you want to achieve.
You’ll get a good idea of what it’s like to work with me, and it gives me chance to understand you a little better too. You can ask any questions you might have about coaching, or about me, then decide if you’d like to go ahead. There’s no hard sell – I only work with people who really want to work with me. Discovery sessions take place by telephone, Skype or Zoom.
