Mindfulness In The Workplace
I have worked with organisations large and small to deliver mindfulness courses and mindfulness sessions. Mindfulness empowers individuals by giving them the tools and techniques to help them manage stress and look after their mental health. For organisations there are tangible business benefits to teaching mindfulness at work.
Here are some of the organisations I have worked with:
Why is it important?
Research shows that 1/6 of the workforce is experiencing mental health issues at any one time and that 1/2 of all working days lost due to ill health are due to stress, anxiety and depression. These statistics were produced prior to the pandemic, so it is fair to assume that this number could now be even higher.
As we have long recognised the importance of building and maintaining our physical health, the focus has started to shift towards mental health and building emotional resilience so we are better equipped to deal with life’s challenges - whether that’s stress at work or pressures in family life/relationships.
So why mindfulness? Research shows that mindfulness can give individuals the ability to manage stress more effectively, tap into their emotional intelligence to improve relationships (at work and at home) and boost their creativity and productivity as they give themselves space to think.
Teaching mindfulness at work could help your business increase productivity, improve team dynamics, reduce the cost of absence and demonstrate a commitment to mental health and wellbeing.

Lead Your Life Mindfulness Courses
I run a tailored 6 week online course for up to 10 people. We have four weeks of guided tuition about mindfulness tools and techniques, learning about the breath, creative writing, mindful eating and the power of gratitude. For the last two weeks of the course we get back together to discuss what works, what challenges the participants have faced and how they have overcome them - sharing and learning as a group in a safe environment.
Participants will easily be able to fit the techniques I teach into their daily schedule – no matter how busy they are. To re-programme the mind, we need to begin with small steps because if something is easy, we are more likely to do it. The aim being to start with 5 minutes of mindfulness every day, five separate minutes a day.
I’ll teach participants how to:
1. Concentrate on the moment without thinking about the past or worrying about the future
2. Focus on your thoughts, feelings and surroundings, without judging what pops into your mind
3. Reduce stress and anxiety
4. Think more creatively
5. Be more open to change
And even small changes can create huge, positive impact!
Who would benefit from a Mindfulness course?
In short, everyone! It could be a good team building activity for a group who regularly work in a high pressure environment with tight deadlines.
Mindfulness is very effective in leadership development. When you are a people manager, it is common to have feelings of fatigue and stress, feeling alone and frightened or not being able to trust others. Accepting vulnerability and building resilience is the new way to lead. There is often a ripple effect from participants out to others they work or live with, so teaching mindfulness to a group of managers or team leaders would have a positive effect on the wider population in your business.
Mindfulness talks and webinars
I also provide talks and webinars individually or as a series of events for organisations. These are less interactive, but offer an introduction to mindfulness techniques and the benefits they can offer.
